Cache County ARES Winlink Net
1st Tuesday of the Month WinLink Check in.
Winlink-only net each 1st Tuesday of every month.
- Check-in is between 0600-1900 Mountain and can be ANY mode including Packet, Telnet or HF.
- 1st check your Winlink email there will be a assignment for you to do for each months Winlink Net.
- You will receive an acknowledgement to show that you’re checked in. And also if you did the Assigned task for that month.
- Address your check-in message to W7CSO (Cache County ARES Callsign).
If No assignment is there use this Template “Winlink Check In” template. For those new to templates follow the step by step instructions how how to send a message.
- Launch Winlink Express.
- Open the session: Type you want to use. (Winlink Packet, VARA VHF or VARA HF ect)
- Hit Start to get any mail that might be in your inbox.
- Look to see if there is instructions for the Months exercise.
- If so complete the exercise.
- If there is no exercise or it wouldn’t pertain to you. (if it was mainly for Locals)
- You may just send the form below.
- Select new message.
- Click on “Select Template” in the menu.
- Expand Standard Templates
- Expand GENERAL Forms
- Double Click on “Winlink Check In.txt”
If you are not using Winlink Express then the body of your message is as follows.
call sign, first name, city or town, state (HF, VHF or Telnet) and mode.
This net will repeat every month. This is a simple check-in with the purpose being to have CCARES members stay up to date on how to use Winlink Express.
