The Top of Utah Half Marathon needs amateur radio operators to provide radio communications for strategic points along the race and to assist race officials. It was run on Saturday, August 26, 2023. Its sponsor is the Top of Utah Runners, a local club. Top of Utah has a Facebook page where you’ll find more information concerning this event. Next year’s race day has not been published yet.
Each year the Top of Utah Half Marathon starts at the Hyrum City Park in Blacksmith Fork Canyon and finishes at the Zollinger Park, 61 North 200 West, in Providence. This 13.1-mile course needs a minimum of 16 amateur radio operators. Only one ham is mobile, the others support stationary aid stations. This is an interesting course because there are several places in Blacksmith Fork Canyon where reaching a repeater is challenging, so we may use more than one repeater! Mobile phone access is almost non-existent in the canyon. Come join us! It’s a fun event!
