Amateur radio operators provide support to the Top of Utah Half Marathon. The radio communications reach strategic points along the race to provide safety for runners and Aid Station staff and assist race officials. This timed running race will be run on Saturday, August 24, 2024. Its sponsor is the Top of Utah Runners, a local club. Each year the Top of Utah Half Marathon starts at the Hyrum City Park in Blacksmith Fork Canyon and finishes at the Zollinger Park, 61 North 200 West, in Providence. This 13.1-mile course needs a minimum of 17 amateur radio operators. Only two hams are mobile, the others support stationary aid stations. This is an interesting course because there are several places in Blacksmith Fork Canyon where reaching a repeater is challenging, so we may use more than one repeater! Mobile phone access is almost non-existent in the canyon. Come join us! It’s a fun event!
