Engaging and Educating Youth in Amateur Radio Through Hands-on Space Science Activities

Girls Space Science Group of Girls and Mentors launch balloon

 

The Bridgerland Amateur Radio Club is working on 3 activities to engage youth in amateur radio through fun hands-on activities themed around space science.

These include

#1 – Students Communicating via Amateur Radio to the Astronauts on the ISS.

#2 –  Six-Week Hands-On Workshops to Build and Launch a High Altitude Balloon and Payload

#3 –  Hands-on Get On-The-Air Events for Youth and Amateur Radio Operators

In May 2021 we applied for a grant with Amateur Radio Digital Communications to get funding for equipment to pull off these activities with Youth.  Members of the club are excited to mentor youth.

 

JUNE 2021.  We have been awarded the grant.  $17,831

 

August 2021. We are ordering equipment specified in the grant.
